Festival of Light at Swarovski Crystal Worlds: a dreamy and dazzling lighting display
Once upon a time, there was a slumbering giant. He slept and he dreamed until… he found himself part of the Festival of Light at Swarovski Crystal Worlds, where, with the spin of a roulette wheel, he was awakened and persuaded to share his surreal, playful and sometimes slightly crazy dreams…
This year, Swarovski Crystal Worlds chose the theme of ‘Dreaming in Light and Sound’ for their annual Festival of Light, integrating colors, sound effects and countless light and laser installations to awaken the giant, tell the stories of his dreams, and make his garden glitter and shine.
Using lighting to tell stories
The giant’s garden is filled a variety of oversized animals, including moose, squirrels and rabbits from the MK Illumination Limited Line™. When the giant awakens, visitors are guided through the garden and the show, with the animals narrating one of three dreams. This is a wonderful example of how lighting and lighting displays can help to tell a story.
An illuminated Ferris wheel takes visitors to great heights
One of the highlights of the festival is located at the entrance to the festival: the newly installed Ferris wheel that pulsates with 400,000 LEDs that draws visitors to the festival from afar. What does a Ferris wheel have to do with MK Illumination? Good question! The answer is this: the dazzling assortment of LEDs come from the Multilight™ by MK Illumination range that specialises in fairground lighting that that brings attractions like the Ferris wheel in Wattens to life.
Each of the LEDs are individually programmable and controlled, and our team from the Netherlands worked closely with the organisers of the Festival of Lights to programme a range of effects and colors to engage the eye and delight visitors from up-close and far away.
MK Illumination’s illuminated 3D animals and the dazzling Ferris wheel, combined with the stunning lasers, continually rotating light rays, the multimedia effects and the narration of the giant’s dream that form part of the festival, Swarovski Crystal Worlds have created an experience that blurs the boundaries between dream and reality.
We’re delighted that our lighting installations are part of an experience that will enchant visitors to the Festival of Lights.
The Festival of Lights will continue until 18th February 2018. You can learn more over at the Swarovski Crystal Worlds website.
